March 2024 release webinar, Inspera introduced a variety of enhancements aimed at optimizing the assessment experience for both educators and students. One of the major updates is the transition of Assessment Path to general availability. This feature allows educators to create connected assessments with individual settings. These assessments can be arranged in a serial order, where students must complete one before moving on to the next, or in a parallel structure, where students can work on multiple assessments simultaneously, providing flexibility and choice. Students also benefit from the new candidate dashboard, which offers a unified view of their assessment progress and upcoming tests. The path structure provides flexibility to mix and match different assessment types—such as diagnostic, formative, and summative—with customizable weighting, deadlines, and question types.
Grading configurations have also been refined, allowing both manual and automatic grading using thresholds. Administrators now have more control, making it easier to calculate total points, hide irrelevant settings, and enhance the overall grading process. This update also introduces summarized results views for graders, reducing the number of clicks required during the hectic marking periods.
The Multiple Attempts feature continues to improve, now offering collaborative grading workflows with options for private or shared marking and confirmation. Institutions can now remove restrictions on the number of attempts for formative assessments, enabling students to have unlimited opportunities to complete these tests. Feedback from the community has highlighted the flexibility this feature offers for both formative and summative contexts.
Numerical Simulation, now fully released, has seen important updates, including improvements to the PDF downloads of question sets, ensuring that correct answers are displayed. Although a known limitation remains where the candidate report does not show feedback per response outcome, further updates are planned. Additionally, if multiple correct answers are available, only the highest-priority answer will be displayed in candidate reports.
Inspera Originality now fully integrates with major Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, D2L, and Sakai. This integration allows for seamless plagiarism detection within these platforms, with similarity detection supported across 30 languages. While Welsh is not yet included in the similarity checks, the integration provides robust support for other major languages.
Accessibility remains a key focus, with improvements such as the addition of ARIA landmarks across critical areas of the platform. These updates enhance the navigation experience for users of assistive technologies like screen readers, while also benefiting all users by creating a more structured and consistent interface. In addition, full Welsh language support has been rolled out across both student and admin interfaces, broadening accessibility for Welsh-speaking users.
Documentation has also been expanded, with the inclusion of Sakai in the list of supported LMS platforms for both Inspera Assessment and Inspera Originality. This update joins the previously available documentation for Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, and D2L, making LMS integration smoother for all users.
A reminder was given that release notes are available in the help center and should be regularly reviewed, as they often contain additional details not covered in the webinar. Participants were also encouraged to submit ideas for new features or improvements to the roadmap, along with use cases, so that the development team can better understand user needs.
