April 2024 release webinar, Inspera showcased a series of updates designed to enhance the functionality and user experience of our platform, with improvements aimed at increasing flexibility, streamlining workflows, and strengthening integrations with external tools. Among the highlights was the updated Candidate Dashboard, which now offers students an improved way to track and manage their assessments. With a unified view of ongoing and upcoming assessments, students can easily monitor deadlines and progress. New filtering options have been introduced, allowing students to focus on specific assessments that are most relevant, such as those with imminent deadlines or requiring immediate attention. Educators now have greater control over the visibility of assessments displayed on the dashboard, ensuring a more tailored experience for their students.
Grading workflows also received significant enhancements in this release. Automated grading now supports the application of customizable weighting rules, simplifying scoring for complex assessments. A newly designed summarized grader view consolidates key information in a single interface, reducing the number of steps required for graders to input marks and provide feedback. Additionally, collaborative grading has been improved, enabling multiple graders to share annotations and feedback directly within the platform. These updates aim to provide a more efficient and consistent grading experience, particularly during high-stakes periods when workloads are heavier.
Improvements to question authoring tools include updates to the Numerical Simulation feature. Enhancements such as expanded support for multiple answer formats and more precise response validation have been introduced. PDF exports have been refined to offer better clarity and now include answer explanations where applicable. While some known limitations persist, such as feedback display per response outcome, these gaps are expected to be addressed in future updates.
Inspera Originality continues to expand its integration with major Learning Management Systems (LMS). The tool now supports seamless plagiarism detection within Brightspace and Sakai, adding to its existing compatibility with Blackboard, Canvas, and Moodle. With support for over 30 languages, Inspera Originality remains a robust solution for academic integrity.
Accessibility improvements are a key part of this release, reflecting Inspera’s commitment to inclusivity. Keyboard navigation has been enhanced with the addition of ARIA landmarks across critical areas of the platform, improving navigation for users of assistive technologies like screen readers. Full Welsh language support has also been implemented across student and administrative interfaces, ensuring broader accessibility for Welsh-speaking users.
Documentation has been updated to reflect the latest developments, particularly regarding LMS integrations, with expanded resources available in the help center. Participants were reminded to regularly review release notes in the help center for additional details on updates. Inspera emphasized the importance of community engagement, encouraging users to submit their ideas and feedback through the Inspera Roadmap Portal. This collaboration remains central to the development of new features, with opportunities for users to participate in research, beta testing, and workshops.
The April 2024 release reflects Inspera’s dedication to co-designing solutions with its users, delivering meaningful improvements to support educators, administrators, and students in achieving their goals.
